NIGHT PENNANT REPORT – TUESDAY 11TH FEBRUARY 2020

Tonight’s game saw both teams play at home under grey skies and a mild breeze. Both sides and visitors were all ready to play by 7pm.  While I was merely a spectator (plus run the bar, cut up the cheese/salami for supper) for the night, I saw some great shots put down by our players.  Sadly, both teams had a loss on the night.

Division 2 played Glen Waverley who were out to get one back, after a loss to our team in the first half of the season.  Alan, Glenys, Kaye and Rod C controlled the game from start to finish, letting the opposition win only 5 ends.  They had 5 multiples with one 2, three 3’s and a magic ‘5’ on the 14th end. They had a 12-shot win.  Bobby, Shellie, Pauline and Craig had a pretty even game up till the11th end.  In the last 6 ends they could only win 2 ends with a single shot and lost 4 ends with two 2’s and two singles which had them down by 5 shots at the end.  Greg, John, Jim and Sally had some great ends including another magic ‘5’, but they couldn’t catch up and lost some vital ends dropping three 3’s and two 4’s.  This rink went down by 10 shots.

GREG 15-25                         ALAN 23-11             BOBBY 9-14

EDITHVALE  47                   GLEN WAVERLEY 50

The division 5 side played Dandy Club and had a 7-shot loss.  Andrew, Barb, Elwyn and Rod H tried hard against a strong team and only won 6 of the 17 ends played.  They went down by 10 shots.  Ann, Helen, Andrew T and Janienne had a tight game with the scores level on two occasions.  They fell away on the last 3 ends and went down by 2 shots.  Peter W, Marika, Rachel and Colin had a close game in the first half, then on the 7th end they got a magic’5’ and took control of the game till the end and had a 5 shot win

ANDREW 9-19                    ANN 14-16              PETER 18-13

                                    EDITHVALE 41        DANDY CLUB 48

Thanks to Carol for coming along to watch and too all that helped pack up at the end.  It was good to see some of our visitors stay for a drink and a ‘munch’ on some cheese, salami and biscuits.
