Grand Final 10th March

Grand Final

Edithvale 76 (B Morton 28-13, A Cousens 15-28, G Bourne 16-27, P Woodbridge 17-25) lost to Keysborough 93

Playing Keysborough was always going to be a tougher match than Carrum, mostly because they had recruited strongly over the winter break. The match started quite evenly, and Keysborough opened up a 10 shot lead at the break. We bridged that gap to square up the match shortly after, but we fell away in the run home and lost by 17 shots. Billy Morton’s four were again a dominant force, and this time they picked up a 5 and three 3s in their 15 shot win. The support for Bill’s four, however, was not as strong on the Sunday. Peter Woodbridge’s crew won ten ends including six multiples, but dropped a few too many 3s in their 8 shot loss. Greg Bourne’s crew were travelling well at 9-11, but fell away in the run home and lost by 11 shots, while Alan Cousens’ team led 9-8 before being overrun in the latter stages and lost by 13 shots. Over the last eleven years, this side has played four years in Division 1, and has made the Grand Final of Division 2 four times in the remaining seven years. It has been a most successful journey.
