Div 2 Section 6

Edithvale 68 (B Morton 21-13, J Harrop 17-12, A Cousens 14-19, J Gumbleton 16-14) def Narre Warren 58

The first side had a low scoring and very tight match against Narre Warren, leading by a solitary shot at the break and winning by 10 shots. Billy Morton’s crew only won 9 ends, but picked up a 4 and three 3s, and conceded 11 singles in an 8 shot win. Justin Harrop’s four started slowly to trail 6-10, but changed the match around in the back end, winning seven of the last eight ends for a 5 shot win. Jim Gumbleton’s four held a narrow lead for most of the game, and finished 2 shots ahead, while Alan Cousens’ team spent much of their match playing catch-up, and finished 5 shots in arrears. This leaves the first side in second place on the ladder, with some big matches over the next few weeks.

 

Div 3 Section 8

Edithvale 67 (G Baskett 12-27, R Leitch 19-18, P Bryant 18-21, P Brain 18-27) lost to Noble Park 93

The second side travelled out to Noble Park to battle for second place, and came home with a 26 shot loss. Robbie Leitch’s crew had a tight match until the last few ends, where they picked up a 2 and a 4 to grab a 1 shot win. Pam Bryant’s team had a match that swung a couple of times. Trailing 4-10, they went on a 14-5 run to hit the front, before dropping the last 3 ends for a 3 shot loss. Peter Brain’s four dropped a 6 early to trail 4-12, but steadied in the back end of the match, picking up three 3s in a 9 shot loss. Glen Baskett’s four were under the pump from the start, and dropped some big numbers in the run home for a 15 shot loss.This leaves the second side in third place on the ladder, also with important matches in front of them.

 

Div 4 Section 8

Edithvale 100 (R Manifold 20-18, N Lewis 21-18, B Hambridge 34-20, J Bryant 25-18) def Berwick 74

The third side won convincingly at home against Berwick by 26 shots, and it was great to see them pick up the maximum 18 points. Bernie Hambridge’s four scored a 7, a 5 and six 3s in a strong 14 shot win, and earned the drinks for the day. They were well supported by John Bryant’s team, who scored a 6 early, took their lead out to 13 shots before falling away at the end for a 7 shot win. Neil Lewis’ four had a close match early, until they gained control for an important 3 shot win, while Raie Manifold’s crew had a game of two halves, shooting out to a 15-5 lead, and hanging on tightly for a 2 shot win.This leaves the third side in sixth place on the ladder.

 

Div 5 Section 6

Edithvale 62 (P Howell 22-10, J Lyons 14-26, A Cameron 9-27, M Bourne 17-29) lost to Berwick 92

The fourth side travelled out to Berwick, but were outplayed and lost by 30 shots. Peter Howell’s four had a close match early before winning ten ends in a row to bring on a 12 shot win. John Lyons’ four were struggling at 5-22, but persevered until the end to reduce the margin to 12 shots. Margaret Bourne’s team were well placed mid-match, but dropped some numbers in the run home for a 12 shot loss also. Ant Cameron’s crew started well to be 4-6, but struggled in the middle ends and lost by 18 shots. This leaves the fourth side in sixth place on the ladder, and a game out of the four.
