Div 2 Section 6

Edithvale 60 (B Morton 12-28, A Cousens 10-27, G Bourne 25-11, P Woodbridge 13-24) lost to Carrum 90

The first side hosted Carrum in a possible prelude to the finals, and were left in their wake to the tune of 30 shots. Greg Bourne’s team had a close match early until they blew the match apart with a pair of 5s for a 14 shot victory. Peter Woodbridge’s crew struggled early, slumping to 4-19, before scoring a 6 to reduce their loss to 11 shots. Billy Morton’s four were 8-all after eight ends, but struggled in the run home for a 16 shot loss, while Alan Cousens’ team were slow out of the blocks at 4-14 and lost by 17 shots. This leaves the first side in third position on the ladder.

Div 2 Section 8

Edithvale 57 (P Bryant 20-19, D Chambers 8-28, A Benson 10-29, B Grace 19-24) lost to Ashburton 100

The second side travelled to Ashburton, and found the going tough in their 43 shot loss. Pam Bryant’s team fought back well from 6-12 by picking up a 5 and two 3s, and won by a solitary shot. Brian Grace’s four also started slowly at 6-13, rallied to lead 19-16 and ended up losing by 5 shots. Andrew Benson’s crew fought an uphill battle all day in their 19 shot loss, while Don Chambers’ team had a similar story in going down by 20 shots.

Div 4 Section 8

Edithvale 54 (C Baskett 9-23, P Brain 14-15, N Lewis 15-24, M Bourne 16-25) lost to Cardinia Waters 87

The third side hosted top-side Cardinia Waters, and lost by 33 shots. Peter Brain’s crew led 13-4 after fourteen ends, but could not stop a fast-finishing opposition in their one shot loss. Margaret Bourne’s four were well placed at 15-16 after seventeen ends, but fell away for a 9 shot loss. Neil Lewis’ team led 7-6 after nine ends, and were right in the match until they dropped a 7 and lost by 9 shots. Claire Baskett’s four were all-square at the halfway mark, but struggled to win the mat in the run home and lost by 14 shots.

Div 5 Section 6

Edithvale 70 (I Thomas 19-18, J Cracknell 18-19, B Hambridge 19-23, B Turnbull 14-24) lost to Willow Lodge 84 

The fourth side journeyed out to Willow Lodge, and played well in their 14 shot loss. Ian Thomas’ crew were struggling at 6-13 until they piled on a 4 and two 3s to grab a 1 shot victory. John Cracknell’s team trailled 8-17 after fifteen ends, but came storming home for a 1 shot loss. Bernie Hambridge’s four were trailling 4-10 but scored a 5 and two 3s to minimise their defeat to 4 shots, while Bernie Turnbull’s team picked up a 5 early but struggled to win the mat in the run home for a 10 shot loss.
