RAY’S MATCH REPORT

SDELBA GRAND FINAL – EDITHVALE versus KEYSBOROUGH 13 MARCH 2024

Hi Bowlers for the final time this season.

Following a three day heat wave, and on a much cooler evening, Edithvale SDELBA teams cruised into Noble Park Bowls Club to contest the 2023-2024 Grand Final against our nemesis club of Keysborough. The greens were in great condition and NPBC are to be congratulated on the state of these greens and club facilities which hosted Grand Finals from Premier o Division four on the same night.

Our teams had not cooled down after the high temperatures and were still hot to win. There were some team changes due to unavailability, however, our confidence in each other, determination to overturn our last encounter (a loss at 37 – 67) and some really high class bowling led to an overall victory and our third SDELBA shield.

EDITHVALE WON THE GRAND FINAL AGAINST THE SIDE WHO WERE THE TOP SCORING TEAM IN THE 2023 – 2024 SEASON

Andrew, Janienne, Ray and Ron fought hard to the twelfth end to be ten shots down. They then scored a game lifting four shots, with Ron converting four shots down to one shot up in the sixteenth, holding three shots in the last end that was reduced to one shot, this rink final score was Edithvale twelve shots to Keysborough nineteen shots in a good battle.

Colin S, Chris, Marika and Rod shut the opposition out until the fourth end and after losing a few ends playing to a draw in the tenth end. Keysborough jumped away seven shots in the next four ends, Edithvale fought back holding three shots in the final three ends. Edithvale twelve shots to Keysborough sixteen shots.

Colin B, Callen, Diane and Anthony jumped away at the beginning of the match being nine shots to one shot at the fifth end, twelve shots to four shots at the tenth end, followed by a fantastic five on the eleventh, and only allowing Keysborough to score one shot in the final end to produce a resounding victory. An exceptionally good team effort to be the only winning Edithvale rink on the night. Edithvale twenty three shots to Keysborough five shots.

A Division four victory to Edithvale Forty Seven shots to Keysborough Forty shots to top off a good season that introduced some members to competition bowls and allowed others to hone their skills

Good Bowling and Camaraderie into 2023 – 2024. Congratulations Thanks for your efforts. Shellie Kavanagh 0422 952 917 Ray Weston 0417 386 635
